Southern Pacific Railroad’s Infamous Summit Tunnel #13 was built in the 1880s using virgin redwood timbers harvested in Southwestern Oregon.
On October 11 the Last known Wild West Train Robbery was attempted in 1923, attempting to blow up this Train within the Tunnel and Steal the rumored GOLD aboard the Train. The explosion destroyed the part of train, the cargo and the Tunnel. In the process, 4 men were also killed, and the robbers fled empty handed.
This PRIVATE STOCK Guitar is part of a limited run of guitars which Paul Reed Smith is building. The wood became available after a fire in 2004 that allowed some of these timbers to be removed. This guitar features a 15 1/2" Body the top made from this incredible Redwood, a Striped African Ebony Back and Sides, Orange Spiney/Ebony Rosette, Paua and Ebony Border at thetop and Ebony binding, High Gloss Nitro Finish, and a Mahogany Neck.
Also, this has an adjustable Truss Rod, Wide Shape Neck with a 1 3/4" Nut Width (Bone Nut), 25 1/2" Scale and Gold Plated Gotoh Tuning machines with Ebony Buttons. The Private Stock Eagle is also Orange Spiney with a Mother of Pearl Outline.
